MCA Commercial Compliance
- Category: Our Services - Articles
We are authorised by the International Institute of Marine Surveying (I.I.M.S.), Certifying Authority to undertake MCA commercial compliance examinations in accordance with MGN 280.
We endeavour to provide our clients with as much information as possible during the initial enquiry, covering the major requirements and allowing the vessel to be prepared for survey.
Typically two inspections will be required to complete and acquire commercial compliance. During our initial inspection, we assess every aspect of the vessel and raise a worklist of issues to be completed in order to achieve compliance; such issues often include the supply of lifesaving appliances and servicing of equipment. It is necessary to examine the vessel out-of-water for initial, third annual and re-coding (fifth annual) examinations.
On completion of the worklist, we will re-attend to inspect the vessel. Providing all work has been completed satisfactorily, we will finalise and submit our paperwork to the I.I.M.S. for scrutiny. This process requires up to three weeks, although generally we receive the certification far more rapidly.
